How We Work

Musicians,
matched to your day

RagaRaga brings together Carnatic-trained musicians from across the region. Rather than a fixed group, we build the right lineup for your wedding matched by instrument, availability, and familiarity with your family's traditions.

We specialise in Tamil weddings: the ritual order, the correct raga for each rite, and the timing that lets the priest lead while the music supports from the groom's entrance through to the final alathi. We also perform popular Tamil cinema songs, for couples who want a familiar, celebratory touch alongside the classical repertoire.

Instruments We Offer

Nadaswaram

Lead Melody

The defining sound of a Tamil wedding — carries the raga through every key ritual moment, from entrance to alathi.

Thavil

Rhythm

Paired traditionally with the nadaswaram, driving the tempo through processions and ritual high points.

Flute

Texture

Enriches sacred rituals with a soothing, divine, and joyful atmosphere.

Violin

Ornamentation

Adds melodic depth and softens the ensemble for quieter, more intimate passages.

Veena

Classical Melody

A softer, classical voice suited to intimate ritual moments and quieter passages.

Miruthangam

Percussion

Traditional Carnatic percussion, paired with the thavil for fuller arrangements.

Tabla

Percussion

Adds North Indian rhythmic texture where requested.

Drum Pads

Modern Rhythm

Electronic percussion for a contemporary rhythm layer, used sparingly and by request.

Our Specialty

Every moment,
entrance to alathi

We play continuously through the ceremony, from the groom's entrance to the final alathi that brings it to a close.

Groom's Entrance

Nadaswaram and thavil announce the groom's arrival — the opening statement of the ceremony.

Procession

Kanyadanam

Measured, reverent music as the bride is formally given away by her family.

Ritual

Mangalya Dharanam

The tying of the thali — the most sacred moment of the day. Nadaswaram swells to mark it precisely.

Core Rite

Saptapadi

Rhythmic accompaniment for the seven steps taken together around the sacred fire.

Ritual

Oonjal & Nalangu

Lighter, playful pieces for the swing ceremony and post-ritual games.

Celebration

Final Alathi

The closing aarti — music softens to bring the ceremony to its conclusion.

From Families We've Performed For

What couples
remember

They knew exactly when to bring the music up and when to let the priest's words carry the room. Every elder at the wedding commented on it.

Me and my wife still talk about how amazing the music was at our Hindu wedding. You and your group brought so much energy and authenticity with the thavil and nadaswaram — it completely elevated the atmosphere and made the ceremonies feel truly special. Guests kept asking about the musicians, and it was one of the highlights of the day for us. Highly recommend RagaRaga Music to anyone looking for traditional, professional, and heartfelt wedding music. Thank you again!

Guests who'd never heard live Carnatic music before were asking for the ensemble's contact by the end of the wedding.
